For her solo CHORUS show, Céline Gillain needed a something to wear that would give her courage.

We decided to make a magical cape which would protect her and give her energy for her performance.

She opted for a dark turquoise neoprene and black lining, the print was designed by Harrisson, based on a painting of Justice from the Yale art gallery.

Mum’s At Work

Friday, August 29th, 2014

How can a one make art work, when most of the week is dedicated to kids, running the household and working?
So few hours available for studio practice.
And 2 months school holiday makes the whole thing even more complicated and … frustrating…
To overcome this feeling of failure, Anaïck Moriceau and I decided to make a silk-screened poster during our holiday week in Bretagne.
Our days at the seaside with the kids enabled us to collect some materials which we solarised. We gained time by using ready mixed inks which were lying around in the studio. The formula went: concentration + simplicity = efficiency.
ST_1
So between cups of tea, bathing time, shopping and cooking meals, we managed to get all three screens exposed and printed.
ST_2
Meanwhile, the kids played, fought and watched a few life-saving cartoons.

……The result is an edition of 10 prints. A composition of coolness and plenitude which reflected “some” of the aspects of our week!!
And every evening by 9PM, we were ready to fall into a heap.

SILEX LEXX
Opening: Wednesday, 17 June 2010
18:00 – 21:00
Exhibition:
17 June – 15 July 2010
at Pianofabriek,
Fortstraat = Rue du Fort, 35
1060 Sint-Gillis = Saint Gilles

Where is my drawing? What have you done with my tools?
The second episode of Silex Lex(x) reunites a team of talented artists, illustrators, architects and graphic designers in an ongoing process of works and tools sharing.
The experiment with hand drawing tools raises the question of how they shape, interfere and re-choreograph each other’s styles and habits.
If no open source software’s and computers are involved this time, the question of collaborative work, independence of production and openness to results remains.
Original pieces are combinations of layers designed by the artists, printed and mixed together with the Plus-tôt-Te-Laat Risograph.
Come and enjoy the results of this new experiment.

Combined risographies by:
Nurse, Harrisson, Lodovico Corsini, Bitsy Knox, Carole Louis, Julien Meert, Martin Meert, PICA PICA, Benoit Plateus, Jonathan Poliart, Alexandra Vandenbrande.

Axel PTTL and Lodovico Corsini
