YII is a project where Taiwanese designers meet Taiwanese craftsmen. All these beautiful contemporary objects make use of traditional techniques, mixing old and new materials.

Milano Mounting
April 14th, 2011A few days in Milano where I help mount the Belgian (the Wallon & Brussels bit) stand at the satellite design fair. My friend Emilie from Atelier Blink has designed it and the building team only have 3 days to put it up before the designers arrive to install their pieces.
It’s hard work and a lot of pre-organisation is required, all the materials and equipment have arrived with the building team in their lorry. Eventually we get to the lay down the final touch: vinyl dash line, names and logos.
The designers can then install their work, Raphaël Charles displays a heep of planks of wood which in fact is a camouflaged chest of drawers and magnetised wooden poles than can be given arranged into different shapes and used as seats.
This one is cool, it’s in the shape of Belgium and it belongs to prince Laurent and sits in the hall of the royal palace!
