December 6th, 2012Carole’s Saint-Nicolas speculoos, D’s bricolage and my new hobby: soap making!
This first attempt is a bit doubtfull and I have been dishwashing for 2 days trying to get rid of the layer of fat that covers the pans, cutlery and dishwasher! I have used more water cleaning than in a week of showers.
Anyways, in 2013 we shall be clean! Thanks Anaïck for the book, any tips?
Anaïck Moriceau at Le 75
December 1st, 2012
Anaïck Moriceau’s Brussels visit takes her to two schools to show her work, influences and run a small project with the students.
First at ERG then at Le 75 for two days with the printmaking students. After a presentation of her work for galleries, artists and her own editions, she answers lots of the students’ technical questions.
At the end of two hours of exciting printers conversation, she proposes a group exercice: a collaborative poster which she will edit and sell on her website. Each student proceeds to make paper cut outs: the poster will have a background of shapes and a foreground of individual designs.
The edition then takes form: the screens are solarized and the second day is a hard printing day as each student prints his own design, resulting in a 20 layers full color poster!

November 13th, 2012BBC reports today:
US to become ‘world’s biggest oil producer’
Shale oil and gas is now big business in the US.
The US will overtake Saudi Arabia as the world’s biggest oil producer “by around 2020”, an International Energy Agency (IEA) report has said.
The IEA said the reason for this was the big growth and development in the US of extracting oil from shale rock.
This has enabled the US to gain significantly more extractable oil resources.
As a result, the IEA predicts the US will become “all but self-sufficient” in its energy needs by around 2035.
The US shale oil industry has grown significantly in recent years.
It extracts oil from the ground using a method called fracking – pumping down a mixture of sand, water and chemicals at high pressure.
The industry says the method is safe, but critics say it could cause earthquakes and pollute water sources.
The IEA predicts that the US will be producing 11.1 million barrels per day by 2020, compared with 10.6 million from Saudi Arabia.
Currently the US imports about 20% of its total energy needs.
The IEA also expects that the US will overtake Russia as the word’s biggest gas producer by 2015, again thanks to fracking, which can also be used to extract natural gas.
It warns that the big growth in US oil and gas production could have significant geopolitical implications, as it may make the US less concerned about the Middle East.

Hands Up for the SOB
November 9th, 2012
This unofficially released documentary by Jozef Devillé is awsome! Some of us were lucky enough to get a seat at the preview last night in a Brussels cinema.
“The Sound of Belgium” retraces the belgian party feeling starting with the post war era right and going right through to the 90’s rave, with a very vivid account of the crazy energy and feeling that moved the club scene between 85 and 95. A few major players rememorize (with enthusiasm but avoiding nostalgia) what the music making was like during that period. A very small country with a serious need to party mad!
And to those who did experience the scene, the film will definitly give you goosebumps!
The screening was followed by a party with the DJs featured in the film playing some serious tunes!
