The Libre Graphics meeting is taking place this year in Brussels, 27th-30th may 2010.
In view of the event, Harrisson and OSP together with Axel from PTTL and Pianofabrik, are putting together an exhibition “Silex Lex” of risograph printed art works using open source software.
For this first session, a few participants were invited to come and experiment with the graphic programme Inkscape.
Gwenola Carrère, Emilie Seron, Cream, Manuel Falcata, Benoit Platéus, +nurse+, LodoCop, Julien Meert and Martin Meert.
With the assistance of Harrisson, Ludi and Prince Charming, we made some A4 images using inkscape which we then printed out with a black and white desktop printer to then generate films for the Risograph (sort of photocopie machine that can copie different layers of colour onto one sheet).
Axel showed us how to manipulate the machine and we spent a couple of hours mixing and re-mixing our drawings together to obtain some weird and wonderful prints, where digital imagery mingles with the oldstyle woodcut / lino rendering of the Risograph. The prints will then be remixed again by Harrisson’s firts year students of ERG.
Wild! Everyone was so excited that another session will be needed!
